Former first lady Michelle Obama remains to be one of the most influential political figures, and she continues to use that influence to push for voter registration. With 100 days left until the November elections, Michelle makes a video address, urging everyone eligible to register to vote.
CNN reports that the nonpartisan organization When We All Vote released a video message from the former first lady, reminding everyone to register to vote, especially as there are only 100 days left until the November elections when Donald Trump would be going against former vice president Joe Biden. Michelle stressed that registering to vote and being able to vote this year is more important than ever.
“We’ve only got 100 days left … and we’ve got to direct every ounce of energy we have into making sure everyone we know understands the importance of their voice and their vote,” said Michelle.
The former first lady also announced that the organization, where she also serves as a co-chair, will also have a “Week of Action” in September. Over the past several months, the organization, through many virtual events, has encouraged everyone eligible to register to vote. When We All Vote has collaborated with many voter registration organizations in order to further the reach of their message and the importance of voting. Michelle has also explained why voting this year is so important in various interviews. When We All Vote has also pushed for more mail-in voting strategies as the pandemic has posed a threat to in-person voting.
It was previously announced that Michelle would be hosting her own Spotify-exclusive podcast that is set to air on July 29. The Michelle Obama Podcast follows the deal between the music streaming platform and the Obamas’ production company Higher Ground. Her husband, former president Barack Obama will be featured in the first episode, where they will talk about their life since leaving the White House, including how they are spending their self-quarantine period.
The former first lady also revealed that she hopes that her podcast “can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we’re all trying to answer in our own lives.”
